DISGUSTING FOOD. Who ever has been raving about this restaurant must not know or have ever eaten REAL Chinese food. Our waitress was rude and kept making us feel like we were an inconvenience to her. The food (as someone else had already mentioned) tasted like a combination of BLEACH, DISH WASHING SOAP, and METAL. I'm from Detroit where there are asian restaurants at every corner (Im also asian), so I would know good asian food where it is, and this "Forbidden City" should definitely be FORBIDDEN. YUCK. I've never stepped near this place since.
Management abusive to waitstaff.. I have been dining at Forbidden City regularily since 1985. I have always enjoyed the meals and service. Today my dish tasted like bleach. My husband agreed. I told the wiatress and she tried to make ammends. The manager started yelling at her and me. She told me that nothing was wrong with the food. Back in the kitchen, I heard pots and pans banging and the manager was yelling at the waitress. She was sobbing. brought us the check, minus my meal. I am sad because I have always loved going there. I will never go back.
CAN NOT BEAT THIS CHINESE FOOD!!!!. Anytime I feel the need for great chinese food i can always count on Forbidden City. Any other chinese place in the city does not compare! The only thing they don't have is buffet. BEST CRAB CHEESE AND EGG ROLLS in the USA!!! The only downside is the price....
Not a bad alternative. Though I disagree that this place has a bad reputation, I will say that it is generally mixed. Some either love it or hate it. My experiences here with the food have been good. The atmosphere is a little stuffy as they try and pull off a semi-elegant dinning experience. In a crunch this place will work however there are plenty of other options in the area. A side note, last time I went inside the smell was so bad that we walked right back out.
best noodles. this place has the best and most authentic mein (noodles) i've ever had. the noodles are uneven and such so you know they're homemade and not from some frozen packaging. no other place has come close to making mein other than maybe homecooking, and my girlfriend and i always look forward to the food. i think i know noodles especially since i'm chinese and love the stuff.
Worst Chinese Food in Town.
Simply put: we had a terrible experience here. The main entree' was terrible and not even fit to eat. After complaining and asking for a reasonable solution to the problem, they told us to pay up. We ended up leaving after taking two bites of our food. We ended up going to another restaurant in town.
This place has a terrible reputation in town. The management was totally rude to us.
